Biography

Charly Cox is Co-Founder of the Climate Change Coaches, a certified B corporation that is accelerating the green transition with the power of coaching. The company works with for-profit companies that are transforming the way they work, and not-for-profit organizations that are engaging communities. They enable people to navigate the human side of the change, and how to stay motivated against the backdrop of the scale of what is required. Charly and her team pioneered the field of climate change coaching in the coaching industry and developed the first coach training programme in the discipline. She is an award-winning climate change coach, still maintains a coaching practice of her own and has been a coach for eleven years. Charly co-authored the first book on this subject: “Climate Change Coaching: the power of connection to create climate action,” commissioned by Open University Press. She spoke at COP27 in Egypt, and regularly gives keynote speeches on the subject of how we motivate ourselves and others to take climate action, and how we can use a climate change coaching approach to transform organizations. Charly believes that systems change when people connect meaningfully to each other and to the change itself. Charly’s dream is for people to feel not that they are disempowered bystanders, but that they are capable of acting decisively on the big crises of the times.

What inspires you?

I love being out on the river, either canoeing, swimming or paddle-boarding. I love exploring and feel completely at peace on the water, disconnected from the noise of the digital world. I am also deeply inspired by leaders who speak from their hearts and act with a strong moral compass.

What relationship has been most influential in your life?

There have been so many pivotal moments in my life in which a relationship has played a key role. The most important for the work I do today is that with my husband and children. When my first daughter was born I was a leadership coach wondering how I could make a bigger impact. From the moment she was born I saw the climate crisis in sharp relief and new that I had to dedicate the rest of my career to working on it.
