Biography

Polly Parker is a Professor in leadership and the Associate Dean Academic in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland, Brisbane. She is a strong advocate for students and her focus is on designing and implementing cutting edge learning practices to enhance their experiences. Polly has a background and life-long interest in learning and teaching, applied in both academic and corporate settings. Polly experience in judging and coaching international gymnastics combined with counselling informs her executive coaching practice. She has worked with CEOs, managers and high potential leaders in New Zealand and Australia. Her particular interest is in women’s leadership development. She has led the successful Women in Executive Leadership program through University of Queensland Executive Education and the Career Progression for Women program for academic women. Her international profile in the careers field is marked by her work as the originator and co-developer of the Intelligent Career Card Sort™ which is used world-wide for research and practice in career development, and translated into seven languages. Polly is lead author in the acclaimed “Peer Coaching at Work” book published by Stanford University Press in 2018. She also publishes academic articles in international peer reviewed refereed journals in her research areas of career management, peer coaching, leadership and the intersection of leadership and career development.
